EDGE3i is Makino’s sinker EDM reference for conductive workpieces requiring an electrode-controlled cavity. It is not wire EDM. The China model page gives a stationary 600 × 450 mm table, 450 × 300 × 320 mm axis travel and an 800 × 550 × 350 mm tank. Show part, fixture, electrode holder, burn position, liquid level and withdrawal route together. Tank dimensions do not establish unrestricted part size or burn depth. Four-sided tank lowering changes operator access; lifting and surrounding cell clearances still need a layout.
The China table lists 800 kg maximum workpiece mass, 50 kg electrode mass, eight electrode-changer positions and 5 m/min rapid traverse. Review the complete loaded fixture and electrode/holder arrangement, allowable distribution and changer restrictions. Rapid travel is separate from erosion rate. Plan rough and finish electrodes, offset measurement, spark-gap allowance and replacement strategy before assessing an unattended sequence. Changer capacity alone does not prove an entire shift can run without intervention.
The China individual page describes MGH-6 with a 15-inch screen and 60A maximum machining-power capacity. The US reference instead names Hyper-i with a 24-inch screen, 80A available and 5/8/16 changer choices. These remain separate regional builds; the larger values are not combined into the China specification. Confirm delivered control, generator, changer, software and manuals. Manufacturer-described adaptive discharge/jump and finish functions require a representative burn trial rather than an assumed cycle, electrode-wear or metallurgical result.
The China reference describes an integrated dielectric reservoir and chiller, plus a flame sensor and extinguishing system. Confirm fluid specification, filtration, maintenance, delivered safety equipment and alarm/interlock recovery with the proposed cell. Trial the deepest rib or difficult corner using the actual workpiece/electrode materials, hardness, flushing and rough/finish sequence. Inspect dimensions, texture and any specified surface-integrity requirement, then verify the milling-to-EDM datum handover. The original whole image visibly identifies EDGE3i. The China company describes EDGE-series manufacturing in Kunshan, but selected-model origin and contracting/service responsibilities still require a build-specific agreement.
