Choose the route from the finished part.
Tailstock support, Y-axis features and second-end transfer solve different machining problems. Compare the QT45 configurations against your datums and complete cycle.
Three current official QT45 tables and dated company records reviewed 8 October 2026
Start with the surfaces that must remain related.
Mark the primary locating diameter, axial stop, second-end features and any off-centre holes, flats or slots on the drawing. Identify which surfaces need a common setup and which need access from the opposite end. Then consider how the part will be held, supported, transferred and measured after release.
Support the first-end turning job
QT45LM lists a live-tool turret and servo tailstock. The current LM500 table has no Y axis or sub-spindle. Check the tool route and unsupported projection; a tailstock supports the work but does not machine the second end.
Reach off-centre features
QT45LMY lists Y travel of ±40 mm and a servo tailstock. The current LMY400 table does not list a sub-spindle. Y motion adds a path to qualifying features; tool reach, orientation and control functions still matter.
Transfer to the second spindle
QT45LMS lists a sub-spindle and Z2 travel, without a Y axis or tailstock in the current LMS500 table. Plan the receiving grip and second-end access rather than assuming that every part can be finished automatically.
Keep each current configuration together.
The current tables identify LM500, LMY400 and LMS500 builds. The numbers below belong to those rows; they are not combined with the different dimensions and masses in the manufacturer's dated 2025 exhibition brochure.
On a narrow screen, swipe the comparison sideways to read all three builds.
| Configuration | LM500 | LMY400 | LMS500 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maximum turning diameter / length (mm) | 250 / 365 | 280 / 340 | 250 / 365 |
| X / Z1 travel (mm) | 165 / 430 | 175 / 410 | 145 / 430 |
| Y / Z2 travel (mm) | Neither listed | ±40 / no Z2 | No Y / 350 |
| Tailstock | Servo, MT4; 420 mm travel | Servo, MT4; 360 mm travel | None listed |
| Sub-spindle | None listed | None listed | 49 mm bore; 35 mm bar; 5000 rpm |
| Listed mass (kg) | 3400 | 3900 | 3800 |
| Length × width × height (mm) | 2475 × 1645 × 1720 | 2450 × 1800 × 2055 | 2475 × 1645 × 1720 |
All three current rows list a 450 mm swing and a main spindle with A2-5 nose, 6-inch chuck, 56 mm bore, 45 mm maximum bar diameter and 4500 rpm maximum speed. Swing is not the same as usable cutting diameter; spindle bore is not the permitted bar capacity. Check jaws, workholding, tool sweep and the exact supplied spindle package.
Prove the receiving grip before promising a one-machine finish.
The LMS500's current main and sub-spindle bar figures are different: 45 mm and 35 mm. A solid blank, turned grip or second-end chuck job also needs its actual jaw and clearance review. Do not treat either through-bar figure as a universal maximum part diameter.
For transfer, specify the gripping surface, jaw engagement, axial stop, supported projection and allowable marking. Agree spindle synchronisation, clamp verification, transfer motion, part separation where used, and the recovery sequence after a failed grip or interrupted cycle. Z2 travel of 350 mm alone does not prove access to every second-end feature.
Run the representative part through the transfer and measure the released result. Include datum-related runout and second-end geometry, not only the first-operation dimensions measured while clamped.
Check the assembled tool and support envelope.
For LM and LMY tailstock jobs, show the centre hole, required support position, drill or boring depth and longest assembled tool. Check whether tailstock, chuck jaws, turret and any live-tool holder can occupy the necessary positions without collision. The LMY's ±40 mm is signed Y travel, not an 80 mm one-sided reach.
The manufacturer lists a live-tool turret for each reviewed build. Request the actual station schedule, holder interfaces, driven-tool speed/torque and orienting/interpolation functions. A turret label does not establish every milling, drilling or tapping capability. Main-spindle power is listed as 7.5 / 11 kW for continuous / 15-minute duty; the LMS sub-spindle's 13.4 / 17 kW entry does not define an equivalent duty pair on that page.
Use the actual material, tool assemblies, coolant and chip conditions in the trial. Inspect difficult bores, interrupted cuts and off-centre features after unclamping, with defined datums and measurement conditions.
Qualify the loading line as part of the process.
Ligang's company material describes CNC turning development, standard manufacture and automation engineering, including customised turning lines. That scope is distinct from a guarantee that a particular gantry, feeder or unloading package is included with a QT45 machine.
Specify blank presentation, grip surfaces, orientation, buffer capacity and finished-part segregation. Include chips on locating surfaces, mixed blanks, empty trays, clamp failure and interrupted loading in the recovery review. Name who integrates the loader, chuck sensing, machine controls and guarding.
Time the complete repeatable cycle: loading, locating/clamping, cutting, transfer where used, unloading, checking and normal interventions. Compare staffed attention and rejected parts as well as cutting time. The installed layout must include handling, service access, extraction/coolant equipment and material flow.
Match the quotation to the builder and dated configuration.
The current company page identifies 浙江立冈机床有限公司 in Wenling, Zhejiang. A 2021 Wenling industrial-enterprise evaluation list also names that company. This is dated administrative identity context, not certification of a particular QT45 machine or a present export-service guarantee.
The manufacturer's 2025 exhibition brochure and today's model pages contain different diameter, mass and sub-spindle entries. Ask the supplier to state the exact current build and revision in the contract. The photographs presently shown on all three web pages carry a PT45L-500 plate, so they are not presented here as three model-matched QT45 photographs. Obtain an exact build-marked photo and supplied-options schedule with the quotation.
Confirm legal seller and actual builder, commissioning scope, control/software support, spares and destination service responsibility. For automation, document the boundary between machine manufacture and line integration.
Send the drawing and the intended part route.
Include material and blank form, locating surfaces, second-end features, off-centre operations, tolerances and batch mix. Add longest tools, support or receiving-jaw needs, loading method and destination.
State whether you need tailstock support, Y motion, second-spindle transfer or an integrated loading line. Request one signed build schedule and a released-part trial covering the complete cycle and fault recovery.
