Neway sells the VM1050 work envelope with two spindle drives. The VM1050S/H column of its VM-series table lists an 8,000 rpm belt-driven No.40 spindle and 36 m/min rapids on all three axes. The VM1050SL/HL column on Neway’s high-speed page keeps the same 850 / 520 / 560 mm travel and 120–680 mm nose-to-table range but lists a 12,000 rpm direct-coupled spindle, with 15,000 rpm in brackets, and 48 m/min rapids. Choose between them from the cutting you will run, not from the travel.

Neway publishes no torque curve for either drive. If the work is mostly steel or cast iron with larger face mills and drills, ask for the VM1050S torque curve at the speeds you will use. If it is aluminium, small cutters or finishing passes, quote the SL/HL alternative as well. Both use BT40 holders and a 24-tool disc magazine, so the tooling package can usually be compared directly.

The VM1050S table is 1,000 × 520 mm, 150 mm longer than X travel, and carries 650 kg. A fixture that covers the table may leave its ends outside the cutting range; draw the part positions against 850 mm of X before choosing a fixture layout. The spindle centre sits 580 mm from the column guideway, which limits how deep a tall part can sit towards the column.

Two entries in the S/H column are options rather than standard equipment. The 11/15 kW motor pair is bracketed next to the 7.5/11 kW pair without a stated duty, and the spindle oil cooler is also bracketed. Ask the quotation to name the motor, its duty ratings and whether the oil cooler is included. Tools are limited to Φ80 mm, 300 mm and 8 kg; the page specifies MAS403 BT40 holders with P40T-1 pull studs.

The reviewed Neway page gives no positioning accuracy, repeatability or controller model. Ask for the laser-measured positioning report with the standard it follows, and for the controller and software options of the build being quoted. Figures on this page were re-checked against Neway’s official VM-series and high-speed VM tables on 29 October 2026.

Is VM1050S the same machine as VM1050SL or VM1050HL?

They share the published 850 / 520 / 560 mm travel and 1,000 × 520 mm table, but Neway lists different spindles: 8,000 rpm belt drive for VM1050S/H and 12,000 rpm direct drive (15,000 rpm option) for VM1050SL/HL, with 36 and 48 m/min rapids respectively.

Does Neway publish accuracy figures for VM1050S?

Not on the model page reviewed on 29 October 2026. Request the positioning and repeatability test report for the machine being quoted.
